This calculator is designed for roll-applied floor coating systems whose product data sheets state coverage per litre or per US gallon. It sizes primer, epoxy and topcoat as separate products, then rounds each one to full kits.

Start with the coating stack, not the kit label

A floor may receive one epoxy coat, two epoxy coats, primer plus epoxy, or a three-product system with a separate topcoat. Selecting the stack first prevents the coverage and pack size of one product from being incorrectly applied to every layer.

  • One epoxy coat: one purchasing line for the base coating.
  • Two epoxy coats: the same floor area is counted twice for the epoxy product.
  • Primer plus epoxy: primer and base coat are calculated and rounded separately.
  • Full system: primer, epoxy base coat and topcoat each receive their own coverage, kit size, surplus and optional cost.

A kit may also be described as a pack, unit or set. Enter the combined mixed volume, not the container count and not the ratio between components.

Surface profile is handled separately from the allowance

The substrate selector applies a practical purchasing adjustment before the general allowance is added. Standard prepared concrete uses the entered coverage unchanged; porous and rough surfaces increase the estimated material demand because actual uptake and surface profile can reduce practical coverage.

These adjustments are estimating aids, not acceptance criteria for the substrate. A rough, weak, contaminated or damp floor may need repair or may be unsuitable for the selected coating regardless of the calculated quantity.

How the result becomes a purchasing list

  1. The floor area is multiplied by the number of coats assigned to the layer.
  2. The selected substrate adjustment and allowance are applied.
  3. Adjusted application area is divided by the product coverage to obtain mixed volume.
  4. Mixed volume is divided by kit volume and rounded up to a whole kit.
  5. Purchased volume and estimated surplus are reported separately for primer, epoxy and topcoat.

The total-kit figure is useful for handling and budgeting, but it combines different products. Use the detailed table as the actual shopping list because one spare primer kit cannot replace a missing epoxy or topcoat kit.

Cost is optional and intentionally incomplete

Turn on cost calculation only when current kit prices are available. The total includes the full kits for active layers whose prices have been entered. Blank prices remain excluded, and the result explains whether all or only some layers are priced.

  • Included when priced: primer kits, epoxy kits and topcoat kits.
  • Not included: substrate repair, grinding, cleaning chemicals and moisture mitigation.
  • Not included: flakes, aggregate, anti-slip media, tools, labour, delivery, taxes or waste disposal.

Do not use this coverage-based calculator for self-levelling resin floors, epoxy mortar, broadcast aggregate systems or other products specified by thickness and mass unless their manufacturer also provides a compatible area-per-volume coverage figure.

What the estimate can and cannot confirm

The result is a preliminary material and packaging estimate. It does not approve the substrate, choose a coating chemistry, verify component ratios, predict adhesion or cure, or replace the current product data sheet, safety data sheet and project specification.
